Brown Elementary reports positive case

Tuesday, 4:32 p.m.

Brown Elementary School announced a positive case of COVID-19 in the school, in an email to parents Tuesday afternoon.

The south Reno school one of dozens of schools in Washoe County to report a case of the coronavirus. The message to parents did not clarify whether the case was diagnosed in a student, teacher or member of the school’s support staff. 

Students and staff who may have been exposed will be excluded from the building per Washoe County Health Guidelines, according to the email.

The majority of cases are at elementary schools.  

Washoe County reports two deaths, 87 new cases

Tuesday 3:51 p.m.

Washoe County Regional Information Center reported two new deaths in Washoe County Tuesday – a woman in her 70s and a woman in her 90s. Both had underlying health conditions. There are now a total of 159 COVID-19 related deaths in Washoe County.

Officials also reported 87 new cases since Monday, bringing the total to 9,542 cases. 

An additional six cases have been discharged from the hospital and 52 cases have recovered. There have also been 33 additional active cases.  

Also, 777 tests have been performed since Monday, totaling to 141,672.

Nevada reports 404 more cases, eight new deaths

Tuesday, 11 a.m.

The Nevada Department of Health and Human Services reported 404 new cases and eight new deaths across the state Tuesday.

Occupied beds in the intensive care unit increased by 136, up eight from Monday. The state reported 343 hospitalizations of confirmed cases, an increase. Hospitalizations of suspected cases dropped by 7, down to 103.

Nevada’s daily positivity rate sits at 7.5%, down from 7.9% on Monday. The state’s cumulative positivity rate is 9.8%, still well above the WHO goal of 5 percent. 

A total of 4,902 tests have been administered since last reported, bringing Nevada’s total number of administered tests to 1,045,334. 

Washoe County reports 106 cases, one death


The Regional Information Center reported 106 new cases of COVID-19 and the death of a 70-year-old man with underlying health conditions on Monday.

Washoe County has reported a total of 9,455 cases since tracking began. 

There are currently 1,353 active cases of COVID-19 in the county, up 45 since data was last updated. The county is reporting 60 recoveries. 

Occupied beds in all staffed, short-term, acute-care hospitals decreased to 61 percent. Beds in intensive care units are 42 percent occupied. 

Nevada reports 463 new cases, no deaths


The Nevada Department of Health and Human Services reported 463 new cases and no deaths on Monday. Cases spiked on Friday with 602 cases.
