The United Nations Continues Its Abortion Advocacy

Various elements of the United Nations system, including the World Health Organization, UNICEF, UNFPA, and the World Bank, will partner with abortion groups to advance a “human right” to abortion. The U.N. made the announcement on September 29 to commemorate so-called International Safe Abortion Day, with the stated goal of addressing “unsafe abortion” in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The partnership, headed by the WHO Department of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Research, will bring together U.N. entities with the world’s largest abortion providers, including the International Planned Parenthood Federation, Ipas, and Marie Stopes International, to promote “comprehensive abortion care,” including access to self-administered telemedicine abortion, as an essential service and a “human right.”

By collaborating on “mitigation strategies” to reduce disruption in abortion access, in addition to “procurement and funding” for abortion services, the goal of the partnership is for Big Abortion and the U.N. to make abortion available and accessible on demand everywhere. The announcement goes so far as to highlight not only young girls but also “those with varying gender identities” as people who should be able to receive “abortion care.”

Cooperation between the U.N. and the abortion industry is nothing new, but the coronavirus climate has paved the way for increasingly brazen and bizarre alliances. This is a new direction for UNICEF and the World Bank, for example, both of which traditionally have steered clear of overt abortion activism. Although it’s commonplace, it is essential to underscore that U.N. abortion promotion is fundamentally at odds with its institutional mandate. National governments, not the international bureaucracy, should chart the course for the U.N. system.

As long as pro-life governments exist — and there are many stalwart pro-life governments — it is inappropriate and illegitimate for the U.N. to unilaterally advance abortion on demand. In fact, the powerful pro-life voice of the United States alone renders the U.N.’s continual promotion of abortion promotion and this new partnership illicit.

As the U.S. recently articulated in a statement to the U.N.: “There is no international right to abortion, nor is there any duty on the part of States to finance or facilitate abortion.” This has been a consistent and frequent stance of the U.S. government, one that has garnered widespread support from countries across the globe.

Even so, the U.N. Secretary General recently identified abortion as central to the U.N.’s COVID-19 response, and the organization’s high commissioner for human rights expressed her support for “safe abortion day.” Similarly, in the partnership announcement, Ian Askew, director of the WHO Department of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Research, states that “eliminating unsafe abortion is one of the key components of the WHO Global reproductive health strategy.”

Jargon aside, U.N. efforts to address “unsafe abortion” are a euphemism for attempting to increase access to abortion where the procedure is illegal. The announcement notes that 121 million pregnancies each year are “unintended” — an unsubstantiated statistic used to justify the need for “safe abortion care.” The statement adds that “postponing

Symptoms of Anxiety Have Doubled in the United States Since Start of COVID-19

Kantar Health finds that 46% of patients have cancelled scheduled appointments, leaving healthcare providers to seek other methods to reach Americans

Ahead of World Mental Health day on 10th October, Kantar Health, a leading global healthcare data, analytics and research provider, today announced that symptoms related to anxiety have doubled in the United States since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to a significant change in attitudes and behaviors of those impacted.

These findings are from Kantar Health’s National Health and Wellness Survey, the largest patient-reported outcomes survey in the world. Kantar Health revealed these findings in a recent episode of Health Heroes, a podcast series aimed to inform and educate life sciences companies on ways to get closer to patients to help drive improved health outcomes.

A ‘sobering’ mental health situation

Symptoms of anxiety can vary, as some patients reported change in sleep or the inability to care for themselves, while others reported forgoing scheduled appointments with their doctor or skipping doses of their medication.

Prior to the pandemic, America had a shortage in psychologists, psychiatrists, behavioral therapists and counselors. Now, with more Americans reporting symptoms related to anxiety, this gap has only been further exacerbated as mental health professionals struggled to meet the demands of the American public.

As such, there needs to be a workforce readjustment and more resources need to be made available for training of mental health professionals to meet the current and future anticipated challenges.

As a result, this will require a multi-year strategy, leaving a gap in the ability to deliver mental health services in the immediate future. To help in the short-term, it is essential that healthcare providers maintain communication with those that are most vulnerable to mental health issues and ensure that they are getting necessary treatment for their symptoms.

“COVID-19 has shined a glaring light on the inequities, disparities and poor funding of the US public health system,” stated Dr. David Nash of Thomas Jefferson University. “Despite this, I am optimistic about the future of the US health care system as it provides us with a once in a century opportunity to self-reflect and make the appropriate changes needed to make our system better and safer for all Americans.”

Kantar Health found that 46% of patients cancelled or delayed their appointments due to COVID-19, with 26% of those cancelling their appointment due to worries around contracting the virus. This can lead to worsening symptoms of chronic illness and increase mental health issues.

To reach patients who have decided to forego their regular appointments, Kantar Health suggests that doctors need to find ways to maintain regular communication with them, such as through the use of telehealth or in-home care. In order to treat these patients, doctors need to promote a “back to prevention” mindset. In this scenario, doctors encourage their patients to resume preventative measures such as mammograms and screenings along with monitoring of chronic illnesses, such as diabetes and hypertension.

“Healthcare providers need to proactively

Terence Kongolo’s move to Sheffield United on the rocks after scans raised concerns over fitness

Terence Kongolo’s move to Sheffield United on the rocks after scans raised concerns over the defender’s fitness following a broken foot last season with Blades looking at other options

Terence Kongolo’s proposed move from Huddersfield Town to Sheffield United is understood to have hit a hitch following medical tests.

The 26-year-old defender has only just recovered after missing most of the year with a broken foot that required metal re-enforcement. That metal work had to be removed again before he could resume playing.

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder confirmed his interest in signing Kongolo as a potential replacement for the injured Jack O’Connell and a deal had looked likely over the weekend. However, medical tests are understood to have raised concerns over when Kongolo was ready to play at full fitness again.

The Dutchman picked up the injury while on loan at Fulham and they have also been among the clubs keen to sign him.

Talking about the injury back in February, then Huddersfield manager Danny Cowley explained: ‘Terence went on in the Blackburn game with about eight minutes to go, he jumped and won a header but when he landed on his foot there was a problem.

‘In the foot there are many, many different bones and between these there are ligaments.

‘Unfortunately, Terence took a heavy landing on one of those bones and ligaments and he’s had to have a piece of metalwork put in which, hopefully, will resolve the issue.

‘He will then need that metalwork to come out before he is able to play again, so it is going to be a lengthy one.

‘We are hoping he will be available for the start of next season – that is certainly the aim – but it is a disappointment to everyone.

‘You feel for Terence because he had just gone to Fulham, who are in a good position and he would have wanted to affect them while on loan.’

Sheffield United have also asked about Preston North End’s £10m rated defender Ben Davies.

The U.S. has a seven-day average of about 43,000 new cases per day after the number of infections had been falling steadily.

Wisconsin this week reported its highest number of coronavirus hospitalizations on record days as the White House coronavirus task force warned of a rapid worsening in the state last week. Meanwhile, President Trump is set to hold large-scale campaign rallies in the battleground state over the weekend as cases and hospitalizations rise.

The increase in new infections across the country comes as health officials worry the fall and winter months could bring more devastation when the flu season kicks off and people begin to move indoors in tighter spaces because of cooler temperatures.

Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, in August warned the U.S. would need to bring its daily coronavirus case count down to 10,000 by September to get a hold on the outbreak.

More than 7.1 million coronavirus cases and 206,000 deaths have been reported in the U.S. since February.

Bilirakis.

In addition to the STANDUP Act, the House voted in favor of three other suicide prevention bills supported by Sandy Hook Promise to help prevent youth suicide:
